The Ibanez AAM740E-LG is an acoustic-electric guitar from Ibanez's Advanced Acoustic series, featuring an Advanced Auditorium body with an Advanced Access Cutaway.
Through intensive research and development, we have designed the A.I.R.port with a unique internal structure that reflects sound waves and guides them to exit from a precisely positioned sound hole. As a result, players can monitor what they are playing more clearly, which enhances the overall playing experience.
With the concept of Advanced Acoustics — "Reimagining Acoustic Experience" in mind, we carefully designed the new body shape of the Advanced Auditorium, drawing on our research into the general Auditorium body shape. After many rounds of prototyping, the Advanced Auditorium body has a slightly wider waist, which has been moved slightly towards the neck. Thanks to these changes, this shape delivers a richer low mids and better body to weight balance, which conventional Auditorium bodies tend to lack.
After more than two years of trial and error, research, and prototyping, Ibanez developed its proprietary X-M bracing specifically for Advanced Auditorium guitar bodies to produce the ultimate sound for the stage and studio. The carefully designed scalloped X-M bracing, tone braces, and finger braces efficiently transmit string vibration from the bridge to the body. This bracing provides a wide dynamic range and excellent response. The mids are slightly scooped for better tonal balance, and the treble has the clarity of steel strings while retaining the warmth of nylon strings.
Solid Sitka Spruce top provides an enormous frequency range that offers wave after wave of shimmering highs along with tight mids and a full-bodied low end.
Sapele back and sides offer a full-bodied and warm mid-range and a bright tone.
The Low Oval neck grip facilitates easy chord strumming.
The Purpleheart fretboard emphasizes the beauty and the rich tonal character of this bass.
The Purpleheart bridge transfers string vibration directly to the body, delivering a natural and warm tone.
Its deep straight cutaway (from 18th fret) and shaved side enable amazing high fret access.
The newly designed headstock shape is the result of thorough research and investigation. Its tapered shape provides lighter weight, as well as a straight string alignment which enhances tuning stability and reduces any neck twisting effect.
