When Brian "Head" Welch rejoined Korn with his faith and fire intact, his Ibanez K7 signature model returned with him, a 7-string echo of the past now charged with fresh conviction. The Ibanez K7YANG is the latest evolution of Head's custom-spec'd K7, primed to deliver the potent riffage that continues to fuel the band's uncompromising heaviness. This untouchable extended-range axe pairs its maple-topped okoume body with a 5-piece maple and walnut neck, built in a sleek Wizard II-7 profile for effortless speed and control. Meanwhile, the 24-fret, 16-inch-radius rosewood fingerboard facilitates friction-free hand maneuverability. The K7YANG's DiMarzio Blaze humbuckers are engineered specifically for 7-string electric guitars in lowered tunings, delivering high-impact, high-output tones with scooped mids to safeguard against unwanted muddiness. Furthermore, an EverTune bridge and Gotoh tuning machines ensure spot-on intonation even under extremely primal playing conditions. You also get an attention-grabbing K-7 12th-fret fingerboard inlay, vivid luminescent side dots, gleaming gold hardware, and a spotlight-ready satin finish. Factory tuned to Head's preferred A standard tuning, the K7YANG roars with crushing clarity and brutal, down-tuned precision, embodying the essence of modern metal while honoring the legacy of a genre-defining sound.

As one of Ibanez's fastest necks to date, the 5-piece maple and walnut Wizard II-7 neck on the K7YANG provides you with a wide platform for all varieties of fleet-fingered fretboard action. This slim and super-comfortable neck lets you pull off lightning-fast runs, arpeggios, and hammer-ons with ease, while still giving you the substance needed for fretting thunderous, down-tuned chords. Additionally, the K7YANG's EverTune bridge helps you stay in tune longer under any playing situation. Small springs maintain constant tension on your strings, providing long-lasting tuning stability and incredibly accurate intonation. You can even adjust it to control how much your pitch changes when you bend a string. To put it concisely, the K7YANG is a 7-string workhorse built for blazing lead work, tectonic rhythm chops, and unshakable tuning reliability.
The Ibanez K7YANG comes loaded with a set of DiMarzio Blaze humbuckers. Voiced specifically for down-tuned 7-string electric guitars, the Blaze bridge pickup boasts a hot bass response to give your extended-range riffage added impact, along with scooped mids to keep things from getting too muddy. Moreover, its articulate character allows individual notes to penetrate heavy distortion while giving clean sounds a stunning hi-fi quality. The Blaze neck pickup also produces scooped mids, along with warm yet subdued bass to avoid unnecessary sludge. We've also coaxed ear-grabbing jazz tones out of the K7YANG's neck pickup using a clean amp. Lastly, a single Volume knob and a 3-way pickup selector grant you the precision you need to make your riffs sound and feel like unapologetic gut punches.
Brian "Head" Welch, a founding member of the influential alternative metal band Korn, played a key role alongside fellow guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer in shaping the aggressive, down-tuned guitar sound that defined nu-metal at the turn of the millennium. His playing style, marked by dissonant textures and riffs that often mimic turntable effects, has influenced generations of guitarists and helped pave the way for subgenres like sludge metal, metalcore, djent, and other heavy offshoots. In 2005, Head stepped away from Korn to focus on his faith, family, and solo career, later releasing his debut solo album, Save Me from Myself, in 2008. He returned to the stage with Korn in May 2012 at the Carolina Rebellion festival and officially rejoined the band in 2013. In addition to his work with Korn, Head also fronts the faith-driven alt-metal band Love and Death, for which he serves as both guitarist and vocalist.
