The IDS OPTEX Xwave2 WLX-40 wireless outdoor PIR is a professional-grade perimeter security sensor engineered to deliver highly reliable outdoor intruder detection for residential properties, small business premises, and commercial sites. This device operates exclusively on the secure 868MHz Xwave2 wireless protocol. It works seamlessly out of the box with the Onyyx Wireless Security Hub as well as the IDS 806 and IDS XSeries hybrid alarm systems (provided an Xwave2 wireless zone hub or plugin receiver is installed on the control panel).
Technical Advisory Note on 3rd-Party Systems: The internal layout of this detector is dedicated to the integrated Xwave2 wireless board and its CR123A battery compartment. There is no additional physical space or accessory terminal block inside the housing to install a third-party wireless transmitter. If you wish to use this detector with a non-IDS alarm system, it cannot be modified internally; instead, you must install an external wireless receiver module (such as an Xwave2 Input/Output module) next to your third-party panel to bridge the wireless signal.

#1 - The unique Pet-Alley mode is configured by physically flipping an internal mirror mechanism and sliding the detector module into a designated slot. This mechanically shifts the detection zones upward, creating an immune zone below 1.2 to 1.5 metres where your pets can roam freely without setting off the alarm.
#2: This detector utilises Quad Zone Logic, which means it looks for a temperature contrast across multiple vertical layers simultaneously. A small animal only cuts through the bottom zones, whereas a human body cuts through all of them, allowing the sensor to intelligently tell the difference and prevent false alarms.
#3: Because the Xwave2 protocol uses bi-directional communication, the detector doesn't just blindly broadcast signals. It waits for an acknowledgement from the main alarm panel and if it detects radio frequency interference, it implements clear channel assessment and encryption to bypass jamming attempts.
