OK, for those of you who do not know what a styptic pencil is, here is a short description:

A styptic (also spelled stiptic) is a specific type of antihemorrhagic agent that works by contracting tissue to seal injured blood vessels. Styptic pencils contain astringents to achieve this.

There you have it! In short, when you cut yourself when shaving, a styptic pencil will stop the bleeding immediately. I have visions of my dad's morning shaves and he always ended up with a face full of tissue paper or cotton wool to stop the bleeding. There were no styptic pencils during those years.

This is for ONE pencil, which would last you a very long time, depending on how many times you intend cutting yourself whilst shaving.
