This typewriter is an Imperial "The Good Companion" War Finish made by the Imperial Typewriter Company in Leicester, England.
· The matte black crinkle/textured paint (sometimes called "war finish" or "hammered" finish), round glass-topped keys, and overall design are classic for wartime and immediate post-war production (roughly 19391948).
· This simplified finish was used due to material shortages during WWII, replacing the pre-war glossy black with chrome accents.
· These machines were built to last and are highly regarded by collectors for their sturdy British engineering.
