Inscription on half title page. lxiii pages preface, statistical data &c, 499 pages including index, 3 fold out coloured maps of S A - political, orographical and rainfall. *** CONTENTS: This is the third edition, revised throughout, with a prefatory chapter, and the Transvaal Conventions of 1881 and 1884. First published in 1897, this edition came out about a month before the formal start of the Anglo-Boer War. The audience the author was targetting was the potential British settlers to the Empire south of the Zambesi River. Some faint pencil annotations in margins of prefatory chapter. All maps present and in very good condition.
