Impressive Solid Silver & Enamel Masonic Medal (1934)

This impressive, early, heavy sterling silver masonic medal is exceptionally well made, with lovely detail and enamel work. The medal is oval in shape and decorated in red, blue, white and black enamel with the words 'ROYAL MASONIC BENEVOLENT INSTN. 1934' around the outside. This is attached to a short purple ribbon with a silver bar/pin at the top with 'STEWARD' in white enamel. The medal is English hallmarked on the back for 'London 1933' and made by jewellers 'D. Quillery & Sons' (DQLS). It is in excellent condition with a lovely soft gilding, there's no damage whatsoever to the enamel and with ribbon it measures 8,7cm in length. The medal itself measures 5cm x 3,3cm, and together it weighs 20,3g.

Note: The 'R.M.B.I.' was founded in 1842, and cares for older freemasons and their families, as well as people in the wider community. They now provide a home for over one thousand people across England and Wales.
