IN CONTEXT. A Series of Exhibitions and Interventions that Engage with the City of Johannesburg, 23 May-17 July 2010, published by Goodman Gallery, Johannesburg, 2010, softcover, illustrated, 98 pages, 19 cms x 24.4 cms, condition: as new.

"IN CONTEXT" was a series of exhibitions and interventions that engaged with the city of Johannesburg, held from May 23 to July 17, 2010, featuring diverse international and South African artists exploring place, context, and geography.

The exhibition series focused on the dynamics and tensions of place, particularly in reference to the African continent and South Africa, prompting questions about space, context, and geography. It featured a wide range of works from diverse international and South African artists, exploring issues of space, context, and geography. The series aimed to explore questions like: What does it mean to be a local artist in a globalized world? Do African artists continue to speak of context? How do artists of the African Diaspora reflect on their distance from and proximity to home? Where is home?

The exhibition took place during a time of significant global attention, with the context of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, adding another layer to the discussions about place and identity.

The series included not only exhibitions but also interventions, suggesting a broader engagement with the city of Johannesburg beyond traditional gallery spaces.
