A beautifully illustrated early twentieth-century exploration of Indian mythology and legend by noted folklorist Donald A. Mackenzie.

Indian Myth and Legend examines the rich mythological traditions of the Indian subcontinent, presenting the stories of Hindu deities, epic heroes and ancient cosmological traditions within their historical and cultural context. Drawing on early Sanskrit literature, epic traditions and classical mythology, Mackenzie introduces readers to the legendary world of Indian myth.

The volume contains colour illustrations by the celebrated illustrator Warwick Goble, together with numerous monochrome plates, bringing scenes from Indian mythology vividly to life.

Bound in the publisher's striking decorative gilt cloth, richly designed with ornate mythological motifs and Art Nouveau-inspired ornamentation, this edition forms part of the highly collectible Gresham mythological series issued by The Gresham Publishing Company.

An engaging and visually attractive introduction to the myths, legends and religious traditions of ancient India.
