INFINITY REF1200S 12 INCH SLIM SUB 1000W.
Today's compact cars offer less space for a component subwoofer, but Infinity doesn't want you to miss out on the bass you deserve.
They designed the Reference Series REF1200S 12" subwoofer to fit into today's smaller enclosures without sacrificing on sound.
With response that goes down to 27 Hz, you'll definitely hear the low frequencies you've been missing.
Unlike most dual-voice coil woofers which allow you to wire the two coils for different impedances, this Infinity sub features a switch which flips between 2 and 4 ohms, the most commonly used settings for a single sub.
You'll be able to extract every last watt from your amplifier without compromising stability and thermal safety margins.
Infinity tests every model under extreme conditions that would break lesser speakers.
They freeze them, bake them, shake them, blast them with ultraviolet light and drive them at full power for days to make sure your audio investment lasts for years.
Get ready for big bass in a small space.
Impedance: The Reference 1200s has a Selectable Smart Impedance switch (SSI), allowing you to easily change the speaker impedance. Choose between 2 and 4.
Sealed Box: Infinity recommends a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 0.75 ft. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle more power, and provide more accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.
Ported Box: Infinity recommends a ported enclosure with an internal volume of 1.75 ft with one 4" diameter x 10" long port.
Ported (or vented) enclosures provide better efficiency in the 40-60Hz range, and are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power.
However, this efficiency comes at the expense of sound quality at low frequencies (40Hz and below), and control.
A subsonic filter is recommended when using a ported enclosure.
Free-Air: While the Reference 1200s can be mounted in free-air (infinite baffle), the power handling decreases by half.
Bandpass Box: Infinity recommends a bandpass enclosure with a sealed chamber volume of 1 ft and a ported chamber volume of 1.75 ft with one 4" diameter x 7.5" long port.
Bandpass enclosures often provide the most output available from any amplifier and subwoofer combination, but at the expense of sonic accuracy.
