Inside Story - Ike Rosmarin (Signed By Ike & Fay Rosmarin) - W.J. Flesch - 1999 - 124pp, maps black and white photographs and illustrations - Hardcover with dust cover in very good condition.

Postage & packaging R28.00

On a single day in 1942, more than 10 000 South Africans lost their freedom and became prisoners of war, when General Rommel of the German Afrika Korps captured the North African fortress of Tobruk.
This is the inside story of how those prisoners coped with nearly three years behind the barbed wire of Italian and German P.O.W. camps. Many were scarred for life by the brutalizing experience, but the author of this book, Sergeant Ike Rosmarin, was one of those who somehow managed to make the most of his ugly predicament.
He decided to get stuck into positive things. He extracted enormous satisfaction from battling to better the common lot through organised sport, entertainment, a news sheet and "working points" in scores of ways against their stolid and sometimes cruel captors.
The book includes a post-Tobruk casualty list which South African P.O.W. families will be able to search through.
