Harback with DJ by Laurie du Preez . C Struik 1973. 214 pages.
Some cellotape marks and stains to inside covers and small tears to DJ. Previous owners name on ffep. Apart from what I have mentioned the rest of the book is in good condition for its age and perfectlyreadable.
"This story opens in June, 1942 in the Libyan town of Tobruk, which was then a fortress garrisoned by various Allied units. The author was with the Sixt South African Infantry Brigade and was taken prisoner of war by the forces under the German general, Erwin Rommel. This book is an account of the author's experiences in POW camps in North Africa and Italy. It describes various attempts to escape and the consequent re-capture in all but one attempt. He tells of his life in captivity, the hunger and ill-health that he and his fellow prisoners suffered, their experiences in a workcamp and their final successful escape in the Alpine regions."
A must read i should think for anyone interested in POW stories.
