Intel Core i5-760 (2.80 GHz) is a first-generation desktop processor from Intels Lynnfield family, launched in July 2010. It was aimed at mid-range PCs that needed solid everyday performance without Hyper-Threading.
The i5-760 is a quad-core CPU built for general desktop use: office work, web browsing, media playback, light photo/video editing, and games of its era when paired with a dedicated graphics card. Intel Turbo Boost raises clock speed when thermal and power headroom allow, so lightly threaded tasks can run faster than the 2.80 GHz base.
It sits just above the earlier i5-750 (2.67 GHz) with a slightly higher base frequency and the same 8 MB L3 cache and 95 W TDP. The multiplier is locked, so it is not an overclocking part.
Because it has no onboard GPU and uses the older LGA 1156 platform, it needs a compatible 1156 motherboard, DDR3 RAM, and a separate graphics card. It is long discontinued and is now mainly found in used or vintage systems.
Typical use today: replacement CPU for an existing LGA 1156 build, budget/retro desktop, or light office machine not a modern productivity or gaming upgrade.
