SOLD TO ME AS AN ANTIQUE SPICE CONTAINER.......MAKES SENSE DUE TO THE LARGE TOP CONTAINER OR COMPARTMENT AND FOUR SMALLER CONTAINERS. APPARENTLY THE LARGE CONTAINER IS USED TO BLEND VARIOUS HERBS AND SPICES. DEFFINITELY NOT A MODERN PIECE, DUE TO SEVERAL TELL TALE AGED WEAR AND TEAR SIGNS, INCLUDING GOOD WEAR ON THE BASE. GOOD AGED CONDITION, REGRETTABLY THE HANDLE IS MISSING, BUT A REPLACEMENT CAN BE SOURCED. SOME MINOR DINGS AND DENTS, ALL ADDING TO THE AGED AND DECORATIVE APPEAL. NOT SURE OF ORIGIN, POSSIBLY MIDDLE EASTERN. AS SOME OF THE LEAD INSIDE THE COMPARTMENTS HAS WORN, PROBABLY NOT SUITABLE FOR USE, BUT AMAZING AS DECOR.
