Junior Fungai was born in 1980 in Harare Zimbabwe, and studied in the B.A.T. Studios of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, from which he earned a  diploma in fine arts. He was awarded first prize in graphics at the Cottco of Zimbabwe’s annual exhibition of N.G.Z and second prize in design at the Gwenyambira Exhibition, N.G.Z.

Fungai exhibits his art at the Amazwi Gallery, Gerald A Lee Gallery, Hyde Park Gallery, Mona Gallery and Cottco Delta Gallery.

Special exhibitions include Cottco, Young Artists Exhibition, Delta Gallery; the Black Like Us competition, Norscot Manor Gallery; the La Concorde African Artist Exhibition, Norwood; and the Michael Canes Gallery in Cape Town. In August 2010, there was a special exhibition of his work at Amazwi Contemporary Art in Saugatuck, Michigan, USA.

Junior currently lives in Bramley, Johannesburg.
