 Skillfully executed oil painting on board by Jack Pieters. Depicting a farmhouse by the edge of a pond. Entitled to rear 'Klein Welmoed, near Stellenbosch' Price in 1968-r400! Signed and dated to front right hand corner. Painting alone measures 750mm ×600mm.In good condition. Frame has some wear and tear. 

Jack (Jacobus) Pieters was born in the Netherlands in 1886.He studied for two years at the Quelenius art school under his uncle Evert Pieters. He came to South Africa in 1904.He was friends with Peter Wenning, Tinus de Jongh and Leo François who persuaded him to move to Durban. Art critic for The Mercury under pseudonym 'Cerulean Blue'. Committee member of the Durban Art Gallery Advisory committee. Numerous solo and group exhibitions. Represented in most public South African galleries.
