African investment Kuba cloth from the North African Kuba tribe. Hand woven from the Raffia palm on small hand held looms. A small square can take up to three months to complete. Therefore traditionally the small pieces were joined together - shows authenticity of the piece. Highly valued, used as currency and often used as part of a brides labola (dowry). Carpets were laid down for the king to walk on when he visited a village. The men wove extravagant skirts that they wore in ceremonial dances.
