The iPod Classic, as its name suggests, is a classic in Apple’s iPod line. It is the only model that reminds of the very first iPod, and still has differentiating features from the likes of the Nano and the Touch despite the fact that it doesn’t have a highly-advanced operating system running inside it.
It’s also one of only two models left in Apple’s iPod line that still operate with the timeless click-wheel, which as you know, made the iPod famous as an easy-to-use device.
So what’s new with the 120GB iPod Classic? Nothing really, except for the downgrade of storage capacity from 160GB. Using it is exactly the same as the old iPod Classic (80GB or 160GB). It’s still the same thick iPod that its supposed to be, and could use a little thinning or lightening up, if you know what I mean.
It doesn’t have any fancy features, like multi-touch data manipulation on a touchscreen, mobile OS X, built-in accelerometer, etc., but its real selling point remains the amount of data that you can cram into its hard drive.
The iPod Classic 120GB is the best hard drive you can get yourself for the money. It will not only play your entire music collection (not to mention let you carry it all around with you no matter where you go), but you can also watch videos, movies, TV shows, and play games. It is also said that the Genius feature, introduced in both the NANO and TOUCH, will come to the iPod Classic 120GB in a future firmware update. And component and composite video out both still work like a charm.
