Islamic Bahai Iran 950 Stamped Silver 19 Bead Counting Bracelet with Tassel Weight 16g

ON AUCTION IS AN ISLAMIC 950 STAMPED SILVER COUNTING BRACELET. IT HAS 19 BEADS AND APPEARS TO BE FROM IRAN AND THE BAHAI SECT.
 
The purpose of Islamic prayer beads (Tasbih Beads ) is to help keep count of the number of times a particular religious word or sentance is said. Most commonly this is straight after the 5 daily prayers to repeat the words Subhanallah (33 times), Alhamdulillah (33 times) and Allahuakbar (34 times).
The use of the normal Islamic 33 beads is associated with shorter dhikr sessions. It is believed that this number reflects the number of times one should say "SubhanAllah" (Glory be to Allah), "Alhamdulillah" (Praise be to Allah), and "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest) while counting on the beads.
 
The Bahai Faith from Iran however stipulates that the verse Allah-u-Abha "God the All-Glorious" be recited 95 times daily after the performance of ablutions. To help facilitate this recitation Baháís often use prayer beads, though they are not required to. Most commonly, Baháí prayer beads consist of 95 individual beads on a strand or a strand of 19 beads with 5 set counters. In the latter case, the person reciting the verses typically tracks the 19 individual verses in a set with one hand and tracks the sets of verses with the other (19 verses times 5 sets for a total of 95 total verses). Baháí prayer beads are made of any number of natural and man-made materials including glass, precious and semi-precious stones, various metals and wood. There are no traditions regarding the structure of the prayer bead strand or the materials used.
 
MARKINGS: MARKED 950 WITH 70 MARKED UNDERNEATH
Brittania silver is an alloy made of 95% silver, which exceeds the requirement for sterling silver. It is most often marked 950. This silver qualifies as sterling, but it is slightly softer than sterling pieces marked 925 or sterling. The 70 underneath is a bit confusing. Although one can get 970 silver I cannot distinguish a 9 in front. It might be 950 to 970 silver but this I have never seen before.
