ON AUCTION IS A RHODONITE BALL PENDANT ON A 925 SILVER CHAIN NECKLACE MADE IN ITALY.
IT IS MARKED ITALY 925 ON THE JUMP RING.
 
RHODONITE IS A STRIKINGLY BEAUTIFUL MANGANESE SILICATE MINERAL. IT HAS A ROSE-RED TO PINK SOMETIMES BROWNISH OR PURPLE-RED COLOUR; OFTEN WITH BLACK MANGANESE OXIDE DENDRITE VEINING MAKING IT LOOK LIKE A PINK STONE WITH BLACK LINES.

RHODONITE:
Rhodonite is a manganese silicate mineral. It has a Rose-red to pink sometimes brownish or purple-red colour; often with black manganese oxide veining.
Rhodonite is one of several gemstones that draw their name from the Greek word for rose ("rhodon"); the others are rhodolite garnet and rhodochrosite. Rhodonite, however, is rarely entirely red like the other two; it is usually rose pink to red with black dendritic inclusions of manganese oxide.
Deposits of rhodonite have been found in Australia (New South Wales), Finland, Japan, Canada, Madagascar, Mexico, Russia, Sweden, South Africa, Tanzania and the United States (notably New Jersey and Nevada).
It is found in both massive and crystal forms in metamorphic (deformed) rocks associated with other manganese minerals. Major sources include Russia, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, and Canada.
