Italian silver parcel-gilt snuff box with gilded plaque, Circa 1850.

A Spectacular 800 standard parcel-gilt silver snuff box embossed with floral and foliate designs on top, and wavy lines embossed on the base. The lid has a gilded engraved plaque depicting cherubs frolicking and carrying bunches of grapes. Four corners are also raised gilt plaques depicting a faun's head. Fauns in Greek and Roman mythology are known for their love of music and dancing, which is obviously why they are watching over the cherubs who are frolicking about having a great time! The interior of the snuff box is also beautifully gilded.
