Shiv / Shank - Sharp Or Pointed Implement Used As A Knife-Like Weapon
This is a crudely made shiv / shank with every intention of being a dangerous weapon or knife. I have no idea of any history, it could well be a Prison Shiv for all I know. This looks like a piece of flat bar filed down to fit tightly into a piece of threaded pipe. The fit is very tight and holds in place very securely. An interesting piece and certainly looks used, for what, one can only guess. The approximate length assembled is about 25.5cm and weighs 328g.
CONDITION: As far as crude weapons go, it's in excellent condition, a strong and robust piece. The blade, being crude is not exactly straight and the edges are not sharp. I think this was designed as a piercing weapon, certainly not a slashing sharp edged weapon. Please study the pictures for a more detailed description and a better understanding of what is on offer,
