A once in a lifetime chance to add something like this to your rugby collection - I found this among some very old sheet music - Would look great framed - Only other copy I could trace is in the World Rugby Museum - (Admittedly theirs is in a better condition) - "The Springboks' Waltz" is the first-ever sports-themed South African novelty song. It was released in 1906 to commemorate the Springbok rugby team's tour of Great Britain - I believe Hymie Sybil "The Ultimate Bok Fan" also had a copy - It is not in a very good condition and somebody kept the 5 sheets together by sewing, rather untidily, a strip of yellow material to the side - It was composed by Sophy (Sophie) Pohl - Google says >>> She was baptized on 19 July 1874 in Glen Lynden, Baviaans River Valley, Eastern Cape, South Africa.. She died in June 1910 at the age of 36 - Died giving birth to a son - It appears she was an opera singer of some repute in Johannesburg in the early 1900's, and she also composed music, one of which is the Springbok Waltz, dedicated to the Springbok rugby <<< (Please note this is the original from 1906 and not the 1942 version which was printed together with another piece of music on Issie Smuts's birthday.)
