An EXCELLENT example of a 1950s Nepalese Regiment  "Gorkha Army" Military Issue Large Kukri with Scabbard and accessory Bladelets. This Ornate and functional piece, features an intricately patterned Steel Blade that has been adorned with various symbols of fortune & cultural motifs throughout. The Hardwood handle and leather Scabbard have been decorated with engraved Copper & Brass fittings - displaying a multitude of Deities and other religious figures. Included are the two characteristic Bladelets that usually accompany the Kukri (Khukuri) known as the "Chaknak" for sharpening the primary weapon ; and the "Karda"  for skinning & fire starting.

The Post-1947 Independence of India, made provision for the transfer of Gurkha (Gorkha) Regiments to the newly established Indian Army. A total number of 6 Gorkha Regiments remained and were primarily recruited from Nepal and regions of North-eastern India. Every serving member since 1947 has been supplied with an Indian Army issue Kukri featuring an inventory/ serial number.

An ideal addition to any 1950s Indian Army Gorkha Regiment Militaria or Sharp-edged weaponry collection or display- for the enthusiast seeking a well preserved period piece.
