Rare Irvin Mk1 Ref 15A/100 Auxiliary Parachute pilot chute - possibly WW2. I think that this is a ww2 auxiliary parachute. An auxiliary parachute or pilot chute is a small parachute used to deploy the main or reserve parachute by pulling it out by opening by means of a spring loaded mechanism. This particular parachute is manufactured from silk with a metal mechanism, and is about 70cm in diameter and folds into a bundle. It is complete with canopy, working spring loaded frame and 8 cords. It is in good condition for its age and use - a few holes and some stains. As you can imagine this is quite a rare item - not many found on the internet. Great buy for your militaria collection.
