Bambusa nana is a dwarf variety with fine green leaves and thin, grass ike culms. The young culms are lime green, and turn a rich golden color as they mature. These are miniature clumping bamboos, which can be used in any landscape without the need for being curbed or restrained. Culms normally grow to avg height of 1 - 1.5m within a year after planting.

Ideal for smaller gardens, "green screens" around pool pumps and as a hedge, along water features etc.

Ideal for bonsai, as a clump of Bambusa nana very closely resembles a miniature giant bamboo clump!

***Cold and frost tolerant***

A rooted section from a healthy and mature clump is being sold here, minimum 10 stems.

Plants are trimmed shorter (30-50cm), roots are carefully wrapped in moist materials, then plants are packaged in boxes and sealed. They can remain in these boxes for 3 weeks and still survive. Bamboo is an extremely tough plant.

New shoots can be expected within 3 weeks after arrival. If possible, plants should be planted into black nursery bags or plastic pots and placed in full shade after arrival, for at least 2 weeks before being planted into their new positions within the garden. This is to minimize the shock of transport, and to speed up the production of new shoots. Frequent watering during this time is crucial.

Bamboo absorbs 3x more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than trees, produces 3x more oxygen than trees and grow a lot faster than trees. Birds love bamboo, pests leave them alone.

Bamboo plants can be planted in full shade to full sun, where watering could range from weekly to fortnightly.

Bamboo leaves are more nutritious than lucerne, which make them ideal to feed to worms (worm farms for vermiculture), chickens, livestock and even fish.
