DESCRIPTION AND CONDITION
DESCRIPTION	A lovely print of J H PIERNEEFF's woodcut of THE UNION BUILDINGS FROM PRINSENHOF (with printed signature and title). The print is mounted on a double mount and framed in a thin wooden frame painted black and silver. It is also protected by glass. The complete framed artwork measures 46 x 53 cm and the print alone measures 30 x 38 cm. You can see the item as sold in the image above and there are 4 more images with detail which follow. CONDITION	This artwork is in very good condition and can be hung and displayed as it is.

NOTES

Beautiful copy of a woodcut print with (printed) signature. Looks like the real thing if not closely scrutinised. The Union Buildings were completed in 1912 and the lack of buildings between Prinsenhof and the Union Buildings evident in this woodcut indicated that Pierneef must have executed the woodcut before about 1920. The image above was taken through glass and is somewhat discoloured and does not do justice to the lovely clear artwork. Note that this is a print of a woodcut and not an original signed woodcut.

The artwork on auction here shown without the frame. The Union Buildings in the distance is placed centrally on the artwork and about two thirds from the top. An excellent composition!

The artists printed signature appears in the margin at bottom right and he has titled the item at bottom left (both appear to be in done in lead pencil but are, in fact, printed signatures).
