A Rare James Cole Mealies 3d Token. Riverside. Circa 1900.

James Cole (1842-1937) owned numerous farms and trading stores in East Griqualand, Southern Natal and Lesotho. This token (no punch mark) was issued for the Riverside store. The Cole and Strachan families dominated business in the region and were connected by marriage. Reference: Brian Hern, Southern African Tokens, No. 112c.
