Inspiration behind the piece: 

I am about to paint my driveway with a koi pond design, so I decided to try my hand out first on a smaller scale. I've always wanted to try and paint koi fish ever since I saw the biggest koi pond in Phuket, Thailand. It was breathtaking! And because they are so graceful not to mention colourful.

I was reminded about this desire when I moved to Barrydale recently and one of the local coffee shops has a massive pond where you can feed the fish. I've also avoided it because painting 'water' can be tricky but I am happy with the result.
