A rare and highly collectible wartime aviation intelligence reference titled Japanese Aircraft: Performance & Characteristics TAIC Manual No.1. Marked Restricted, this publication was produced by the Technical Air Intelligence Center, NAS Anacostia, D.C., for use by Allied forces during the Second World War.
Designed as a working intelligence reference, Japanese Aircraft contains aircraft code names, type indexes, performance data, engines, armament, radio information, and conversion tables relating to Imperial Japanese Navy and Army aircraft. The unusual sectional pagination strongly suggests an original loose-leaf update system, allowing intelligence officers to insert revised sheets as new data became available during wartime operations.
Included with Japanese Aircraft are 10 original black & white aircraft recognition photographs, each stamped to the reverse: Aircraft Recognition Centre, R.N. Air Station, Yeovilton. Admiralty Crown Copyright Reserved, with handwritten negative numbers. These period photographs substantially enhance the historical and collector appeal of the lot.
