Vintage Japanese Black lacquer ware (Taka Makie) four seasons pattern
14?piece Salad Serving set encrusted with Gold leaf
? Makie is the technique to add decorations to lacquer ware by scattering powdered gold. Taka makie (raised makie) technique was developed to raise the area where the powdered gold would be scattered. When lacquer is applied over and over again, the coated section will be raised.
The large serving dish measures 27cms diameter and is 10cms deep, and is decorated inside and outside
The 8 small dishes, each with a different four seasons pattern,
measure 15cms x 4cms.? The combined weight is 1,8 kilos?
The holder for the fork and spoon servers are also decorated in a pretty gold pattern. ? ?Marking on the bottom of each of the dishes
The set is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing.
They are very well made and solid. 1 of the small dishes has had a repair.?
This fortunately is not very obvious.
There are a few marks on the base of the large bowl?
A vintage and quite rare example of the old Japanese art?of?Taka Makie
