Offered for sale is a fine Japanese Studio vase in stoneware in the Oribe style designed for Ikebana flower arrangements.The vase dates to circa 1960's. This is a hand made stoneware vase; the form is tall with rounded and faceted sides emulating a bamboo stem with nodules. The vase is decorated in earth tone glaze colours with a dramatic cascading glaze effect in diagonal washes with a motif of a bamboo grove or thicket painted on the side in a dark umber browm. The vase is signed with inscribed cypher marks on the base and a silver foil label. The vase is 20 cm high and 6.5 cm wide.
