This is a limited edition print issued in 1975 to celebrate the artist Jean Welz 's  75th birthday. It is HAND SIGNED and HAND NUMBERED 166 ( of an edition limited to 300 ) BY THE ARTIST JEAN WELZ.

All authenticating paperwork to be sold with this item. Hand signed letter by  J.J. Human of Human and Rousseau, the publishers. The pamphlet using this print as cover illustration.  Detailed introduction by W.E.G. Louw.  Will be posted in the original thick folio cover for added protection in transit.

The print is large and in excellent condition. 52 cm x 64 cm including border. Waiting for you to give it the frame it deserves! 

The very high quality print is a lifesize rendition of an original charcoal drawing (57 x 39 cm) by Welz. In the print , three different blacks were used to reproduce the charcoal drawing. The artist personally supervised each stage of the reproduction. In the description by W.E.G. Louw that will be sold with this item he describes this particular print as having "contrasts of black lines, open white surfaces and soft velvety shadows" making it strangely no less expressive than a colour canvas.
