Bookplate on the front pastedown endpaper of Dale Van Every - possibly the American writer, film producer, and studio executive of that name (1896 to 1976).

First English edition.

Jehol: City of Emperors, documents Hedin's exploration of Jehol (now Chengde), a historic city in northern China, and its imperial palaces and temples. He describes the city's role as a summer retreat for Qing dynasty emperors, blending travel narrative with cultural and historical observations. The book also details Hedin's commission to create a replica of the Golden Temple in Potala of Jehol for a project in Stockholm and Chicago.
