The Divine Holy Child "Divino Nino de Bogota" made from stone resin, Replica 18cm inscribed "Yo Reinare" (I will Reign).     

Description: This hand finished and hand-painted manufactured marble replica of the 17cm Colombian miraculous wooden sculpture figurine of the Divine Child will warm the hearts of all who see it. Condition: This figurine is in mint condition (unused) with no chips, cracks or scratches. Allowances have to be made as the individual piece has been hand finished and hand painted beautifully. Please also note that the height of 18 cm is almost identical to the original wooden figurine (17cm) on display at a chapel in Bogota in a wooden & glass cabinet as per picture.

History: The Divino Nino, also known as Divino Nino de Bogota or Divine Child Jesus, is a 20th Century religious wooden statue of the child Jesus originating from Bogota, Colombia. The 17cm high statue with arms stretched out wide has an inscription "YO REINARE" (I WILL REIGN) at its base. It is one of the most popular religious images in Colombia, especially among Catholics with hundreds of thousands paying homage to it, and it is claimed to have miraculous powers of fertility and healing. Father Rizzo is believed to have had a mystical vision of the child Jesus in a standing posture while beckoning out with his arms. The boy in the vision spoke "Take me with you, I want to accompany you".

In 1942 after years of church construction, Father Rizzo discovered a child Jesus wooden statue in a shop called "EL VATICANO", in Bogota, Colombia. In the shop was a wooden statue by an anonymous Italian sculptor who fashioned a likeness of the child Jesus (as in Father Rizzo's vision) but with a cross in the background. Father Rizzo ordered the cross to be removed arguing that the child had not yet been crucified, and to inscribe the words "YO REINARE" at the base of the statue, which he brought to his new parish, where he began to preach about the favours the Christ Child does for those who have faith and who help the poor.

Technical note: Manufactured Marble: This is a compound composed of Marble Dust, Resin, and a catalyst (hardener). Once this mixture has cured it is transformed into a hard material similar to stone.
