Amazon Reviewer: By the time that Stand Up was released, Jethro Tull came from being the blues rock band with a flute player to a folk orientated rock group with a sound that really didn't match anyone else in terms of style. Their sophomore album Stand Up is a fine example of what would become one of the weirdest most eccentric and fascinating bands in the history of rock n roll. The sound on Stand Up is a little different from This Was. They are both great albums and have aged reasonably well. But they both have a certain sound that makes you wonder how the band could go from blues to folk. If you dig a little deeper into the sound of Jethro Tull, you will notice that they didn't change all that much. The biggest difference in direction is the switch in guitar players from Mick Abrahams to Martin Barre. The change in influence shows and it is one that stuck with the band until their final days. The album features a nice selection of tunes from the J.S. Bach inspired Bourée, the heavy hitting A New Day Yesterday and the underrated Nothing Is Easy. If you get the extended remaster you will also get the edition of great tunes like Living In the Past and the rocking Sweet Dream. Stand Up is a fairly easy album to listen to with each song flowing into one another very well. It also helps that each track doesn't go over the five minute mark, they are short, do what they have to do and finish before they have any chance of dragging on. The audio quality is a little dated with some production qualities that most definitely sounds like 1969. But it is far from a bad sounding album, in fact it sounds better than some of the albums that came out of the '70s (Benefit, Too Old To Rock N Roll to name a couple). I think for an album of its time it has a good raw heavy sound and as I said early it has aged well. If you are a Jethro Tull fan and you do not own a copy of Stand Up, you are doing something very wrong. This is one of their many must have albums, it sits well with the likes of Thick As A Brick, Aqualung and Minstrel In The Gallery. If however you want to get into the band, I would check out the previously mentioned albums before jumping into bed with this one. It might suck you dry but you will find a better ride else where.

Sleeve: VG+ (Very Good+, slightly shelf worn on edges, back cover a bit grubby, some check marks on the track list, see images )

Media: VG+(Very Good+, moderate surface scratches)

LP Grading Guide

Mint (M): Absolutely perfect in every way. Hardly ever, or  never been played, possibly even still sealed.
Near Mint (NM or M-): A nearly perfect record. A NM or M- record will play perfectly, with no imperfections during playback. The record shows no obvious signs of wear and has been well taken care of.
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect the listening experience.
Very Good (VG): Light scratches are evident that might affect the sound, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise.

Cover Grading Guide

Mint (M): Perfect. No wear, marks, or any other imperfections.
Near Mint (NM or M-): The LP cover has no creases, folds, seam splits, cut-out holes, or other noticeable similar defects.
Very Good Plus (VG+): Picture sleeves and inner sleeves will have some slight wear, slightly turned-up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear, and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation, or cut corner.
Very Good (VG): Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time.
