1941 hardcover with 475 pages in good secondhand condition.  Name in ink in front.

This copy was published in the same format as the first edition of 1907.

Publisher's green cloth binding with gilt titles on spine. Internally the pages are clean.

The famous 'dung beetle error' of the first impression was corrected in editions following immediately after the first. Unfortunately, and to the great annoyance of the publishers, the dung beetle error crept back onto the pages in later editions. Longmans didn't realize that the image was used three times in the text with the result being that the first appearance of the dung beetle on page 65 is the corrected version with the beetle standing upside down, and the other two appearances on pages 337 & 457 being the wrong version, that is, with the beetle standing right side up. Furthermore, Fitzpatrick did not approve of the violence in the plate titled "Let him fight Baas! you said it!" and the image was revised in later impressions, though, yet again, in this edition they inserted the original plate.
