Hardcover first published in 1954 by Geoffrey Bles. The jacket is edge-worn, with several small tears in places, and a larger triangular one at the foot of the spine. A narrow band of liquid stain parallel to the spine is visible on the rear panel, that is also quite soiled. That liquid mark is also visible on the rear board, although they are otherwise clean and sound. The first end-paper appears to have been removed, otherwise the pages are clean and undamaged. Inscribed by author on the title page.
