German fighting ships which participated in World War I, Imperial German Navy. Illus. Detail of individual ships are given. The ships were well designed strongly constructed and in every sense fine fighting ships. Also included are those vessels laid down during the war which were either completed too late or scrapped before completion. During this period German warships were painted a lighter shade of grey than Royal Navy, torpedo craft were often black or dul brown.
