Hard cover, first published 1936 by Lovat Dickson Limited Publishers, London; 208 pages with 24 collotype plates.
The green linen boards show a lot of shelf wear. Corners are bumped and chaffed. Binding is good. Gilt lettering to spine. Ex-library with many stamps and sachet to inside of front board. Foxing to end pages and first few pages at beginning and end. Inside the pages are remarkably white.
John Tweed was born in Glasgow in 1869. He went to London aged twenty one. His life and career spanned the most exciting and progressive eras of British history. John Tweed was a very successful artist in his own lifetime.
Amongst his work of Public Monuments is Jan van Riebeeck in Cape Town.
John Tweed passed away in 1933, being known as the Empire Sculptor.
