Swing is a unique Scotch whiskey created by Sir Alexander Walker in 1932 in celebration of that golden age of travel, when luxury liners carried high society passengers from royalty to Hollywood stars around the world like so many travelling party venues (an atmosphere created in part by the Prohibition awaiting passengers once they disembarked in New York).

Known and respected as a captain of industry for his role in the international success of the Johnnie Walker® brands, Sir Alexander was a familiar sight on these voyages himself, travelling in the distinguished company of, amongst others, the Duke of Windsor. Indeed, it was while travelling that he was inspired to create a whisky to suit the palates of these most discerning travellers. And so this sophisticated whisky was conceived: a blend of 35 whiskies including a high proportion of the Speyside malts that characterise the Walker brands with a light, spicy palate hinting at dark fruit and caramel overtones.

The name Swing describes the rocking motion of the decanter when gently pushed Alexander's brilliant solution to the problem of bottles falling over in rough seas. The swing bottle rides the ocean waves like a seasoned sailor, holding itself with as much balance and dignity as the whisky within.
