An extremely rare ivory china, complete 52 piece (55 piece including lids), dinner and tea set,
decorated with various coloured transfer-printed scenes featuring selected Royal Homes of Britain.
Set comprises: 6 X dinner plates (Buckingham Palace), 6 X fish / breakfast plates (Glamis Castle),
6 X soup / porridge bowls (Osborne House), 6 X side plates (Hampton Court Palace), 1 X large meat
ashet (Balmoral Castle), 1 X small meat ashet (Windsor Castle), 1 X sauce boat (Holyrood Palace),
1 X sauce plate (York Cottage Sandringham), 2 X vegetable tureens with lids (Hampton Court Palace),
6 X tea cups, 6 X saucers (Caernavon Castle), 6 X tea plates (Hampton Court Palace), 1 X cake plate
(Glamis Castle), 1 X milk jug (Kensington Palace), 1 X sugar bowl (Windsor Castle) and 1 X teapot with
lid (Hampton Court Palace). A description of each Royal Home featured is given on the back of most pieces.
MARKS:
A genuine hand engraving, Royal Homes of Britain, Made in England by Johnson Bros, Pat: Pend.
and Reg No: on most pieces. All decoration under the glaze, permanent & acid resisting colour.
PROVENANCE:
Received as a wedding gift on the 24th of March 1958 by Mr & Mrs Olivier of Dankbaar Senior Sentrum
in Memel. Oom Willie, at 91 years of age, is the oldest male resident of our small village.
CONDITION:
Set is in an excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. I have been assured by Tannie Ina
that she has never used the set and that it has been kept in her vertoonkas (display cabinet) since 1958.
