Vintage Jones CB Sewing Machine
Made in the Jones’ Guide Bridge Factory, Manchester England
Precise dating for this Jones CB Sewing Machine is not certain
The Jones CB (Central Bobbin) dates later than the Jones CS (Cylinder Shuttle) and earlier than the Jones N35
Possible date around 1935 onward
What is known date-wise is that its owner used it during the 1940s and it was retired during the 1950s to make place for an upgrade
At ~70+ years old it is a vintage
It was retired whilst oiled accounting for accumulation of grime shown. Some parts which appear rusted are also accumulated dirt. Where rust appears, it is at surface and not noted to penetrate the metal
When retired it was in working order. The possibility that it still works or may be made to work with its loose bits, cannot be determined or confirmed
It comes in a wooden casing – the clips and locking mechanism having lost their purposefulness
For the collector or to display, the Jones is a desirable object with its best-of-breed status
