Description | Journey Continued tracks the life's story of legendary writer, Alan Paton, from 1948. A year in which two decisive things happened: the publication of his unprecedentedly successful novel Cry, the Beloved Country, and the coming to power of the Nationalist government in South Africa. The influence of these two events continued to follow him throughout the rest of his life and form the two main threads consistently traveling through the book, literature and politics. The book ends in 1968, when the Liberal Party is forced to disband itself. An Epilogue carries the story forward to publication. |
