An antique coffee pot. Height 26cm. Bottom diameter 13cm.
NOTE CONDITION !!! STUDY PICTURES!!!
I have had this one for a long time and have tried to find out where it originates from and how old it is. I have come up with almost nothing. I have seen pots on the net which have some of the features but nothing with all of them. It has so many features that it almost feels like it is a hybrid. I might of course be totally mistaken and would appreciate any input you have :-)
Perhaps it was a cherished family heirloom which was "kept up to date" and mended during various periods.
The straight shape of the pot is very rare and very old (1780's), so is the filial. The lid is hinged and has a silver lining.
The handle, with two bone separators, and the goose neck spout is typical early Victorian.
Inside the pot has a divider.
And the bottom is the most puzzling of all - I think it is the most recent part. Inside a wreath is written:
THE COMFORT COFFEE POT
HOT-CLEAR-QUICK
And in tiny letters SPORRIER or SPURRIER
Underneath that it says: 5GILL No. 574
