Rare 1979 Rhodesian pressing on white CBS label, catalogue number ASF 2416. Vinyl is in VG+ condition with some crackling at the beginning of some tracks: sleeve has ring mark plus some wear & tear and a small tear on the back-graded VG. NB By 1979 economic and military sanctions plus a fierce guerilla bush war had brought the then Rhodesia close to the brink of collapse. Sanctions meant that the country's record industry could not purchase certain raw materials in bulk including virgin vinyl granules and paper/ ink for sleeves. Being the resilient and make-do people that they were, they started photographing international covers and printing them on a low grade cardboard. Labels were printed in one color (usually blue) and the vinyls pressed on old EMI presses using a mixture of new granules from South Africa and recycled granules. This resulted in patchy pressings in some cases. Luckily this pressing is one of the better ones. A nice rare addition for Priest collectors. |
