On solid yellowwood plinth. Carved out of soapstone. Abstract figure of a woman.

30 cm high.

Signature and date 1977 carved on base of sculpture.

Also signed on base of the yellowwood plinth.

There are a few cracks on the soapstone. These could be natural. No chips that I can see.

Please look at all the photographs above. Includes close ups of the cracks.

Like all soapstone sculptures, especially ones that are nearly 50 years old, the soapstone needs to be maintained and treated regularly with mineral oil to show the natural patina of the stone.

Listed South African artist with long career. Studied sculpture under Lippy Lipschitz , Mitford Barberton, Florenci Cuairan.
