A Brilliant Black solitaire diamond
Black diamonds are amongst the hottest new fashion in jewerly design as they look great coupled with white diamonds or any of the coloured gemstones such as rubies, sapphires or emeralds. They also look stunning set in either gold or platinum.
Under a 10 x loupe it is well cut with a brilliant jet black luster - like a shiney black mirror. One or two VSI pits are visible only under magnification. The diamond has inclusions which can be seen as the gem is turned. They are like pinpricks of light on the black surface because the light is reflected at a slightly differant angle. You can see some of these inclusions in the picture upper right. Small imperfections such as these are normal for diamonds of this size.
Black diamonds have all the properties of white diamond but take 2 - 5 times longer to cut.
