Glittering blue natural zircon gems - better than the photo's.

Zircon (not to be confused with synthetic cubic zirconium) has a dispersion rate close to that of diamond and is often used as a substitute for diamond. These matching ovals glitter just like blue diamonds.

They are a brilliant sky blue (more like the bright mid tone blues in the right hand picture) and classed as VVS1. Looking though a 10 x loupe there is no visible damage such as abrasion or chips to any of the facets.

Good clean gem grade Zircon is difficult to source and is a challenge for gem cutters to cut as it tends to crack when being cut. Once cut however the gem will last a lifetime with normal usage. It has a hardness of 7 to 7.5.
