This Paraiba Blue Tourmaline comes from Brazil where the original finds of Paraiba Tourmaline was made only relatively recently. It has become one of the most sought after gems amongst collectors and investors and commands $ thousands per carat on the market. It outprices Tanzanite and Ruby and Emerald are generally way behind!
This is an absolutely stunning Flawless long octogon scissors cut tourmaline with brilliant flashes of paraiba blue and paraiba green. Please note, you need to be in good daylight and view the gem at it's optimum angle to see this paraiba blue.
Under a 10 x loupe there is no visible damage to any of the facets and the gem has been cut & polished to professional perfection.
Classified as very rare on gemological tables, this gem is a collectors item. The WEB based shop price is R10,000 plus- you would pay some 40% more at a retail jeweler. Input the gem type, size, colour ( the second blue one down - notice that it is classed as VERY RARE), quality (VVS) , finish (excellent) and cut (octogon). You should get to about $1,700.
